Asset Management

We use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies to assist clients in managing assets.  GISs  provide a valuable capability of performing many tasks, from simple base-map updates to the complex functions of operations and work-order maintenance.  In addition, GISs provide a valuable function for master, land-use, and transportation planning, capital improvement planning, engineering design, environmental monitoring, site location analyses and assessments, and EPA regulatory permitting.

We use GIS because it is a powerful tool that users can quickly search, display, analyze, and model vast amount of descriptive geospatial information with a wide array of selection criteria.  Giving infrastructure managers the ability to create scenarios with immediate feedback on possible field implications can facilitate informed management decisions by reducing the uncertainty that can envelop the decision-making process.

Over the years, advancements in the capabilities of desktop, tablets, and smart-phones, databases, web, and mobile technologies have allowed GIS, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) field data acquisition systems, and Web-Deployed visualization interfaces to mature substantially.  The addition of descriptive attributes and topological relationships, database architecture, and advanced editing to geospatial data are perhaps the most valuable assets of a GIS.  GIS has gained widespread acceptance among infrastructure managers due to its versatility in a wide variety of applications, and continues to be recognized as an essential tool for monitoring utilities and capital expenditures.  Its increasing affordability also has made it accessible to many organizations engaged in utility distribution systems mapping and managing other forms of complex geospatial data.
